The Old Rectory has been linked to the church for about 450 years. We're almost as close to the other churches in Cheam Village. BY TRAIN Victoria to Cheam, 28 mins or less, trains every 30 minutes. Usually it's the Dorking train, from platform 9, 10, 11 or 12. London Bridge to Cheam, takes around 40 mins, check train times. From Waterloo: 28 mins if you take a train to Clapham Junction - there's one every few minutes. Then change onto the same Dorking Train - look up the platform for Cheam at Clapham Junction - they have signs labelled 'which platform?' on the underpass. When you arrive from London, we're a five-minute stroll from the station, as follows. Cross over to the 'up' side of the station using the tunnel under the tracks. Then walk down the tiny road from the station and turn right at the end. Keep walking past the Star Indian Restaurant and across the crossroads - NB there are some lovely little shops to amuse you in the Village! At the Village crossroads, cross to WH Smith and then again to the Lloyds Bank and travel agents side of the road, then walk along past the barbers, greengrocer, wedding dress shop and further down, Whitehall Museum, a white clapperboarded house. Continue past some more pretty white houses and you will come to our green painted gates and pedestrian gate, labelled The Old Rectory. |
DRIVING If you're coming a little further, Cheam is on the green edge of London, well inside the M25, in a south-west direction about halfway between Croydon and Kingston. From the centre of London, come down the A3 then turn left onto the A2043 and stick with it for about 4 miles, till you go past our gates on the right. From the north and west, use the M25 then go up the A3 then right onto the A2043, then stick with it as above. From the south and east, come off the M25 onto the A217. Watch out for the sign pointing to Cheam Village on the left: turn into the village then right at the lights and we're 400 yards away on the left. We have off road parking inside our gates for around 12 cars, which allows disabled people or heavily loaded vans to get right to the house without any parking problems. The Village car park is very cheap and is signposted in the Village, aptly called Park Road. There is some free parking in Mickleham Gardens beside us and the neighbouring roads, a few steps away. They DO ticket even here in Fairyland, so don't take a chance on yellow lines! If you're meeting here after a funeral there is a simple dowloadable map on the Funerals page, giving directions from North East Surrey Crematorium. BY TUBE Morden is our nearest tube, which is at the end of the Northern Line. You will find black cabs outside the station - we're around a £3.50 fare, 12 minutes - and there's a minicab office opposite the station. If you have time to take a bus you will need the 93 southbound to the North Cheam crossroads, followed by a 213 or 151 to right outside our door. BY BUS The following buses go right past our door:
